Dear PRM Family,
It is a very sad time here at Puppy Rescue Mission and for many amazing organizations across the world who have been incredible voices for the voiceless. Daisy was our last pup to arrive from Qatar before the CDC ban went into effect on July 14, 2021. Our team and volunteers have worked countless hours to get our remaining 30 soldiers rescues home since June 11 and helping other organizations along the way get their animals out as well.
It is with a heavy heart that we may have to turn soldiers away but we will continue fighting to gain exemption alongside the many organizations and dogs who will not survive the year without our assistance.
But we are not going anywhere and will do all we can to continue helping our soldiers and their battle buddies. Where there is a will there is a way...it just may not be an easy one! Despite the CDC ban we can continue to rescue cats from anywhere, and dogs from countries not on the ban list. We do have rescues in the works (both cats and dogs) for our U.S. military and still plan to keep trekking on to make it through until the ban is lifted in 2022.
On July 27, we received some promising news that a Funding Amendment designed to help lift CDC Canine Import Suspension passed the U.S. House. What does this mean? This amendment seeks to provide $3 million to the CDC, to fund inspections and streamline the process for importing canines into the U.S. again, including modernizing the CDC’s dog import program to see it fully functional and operating. Some amazing people are doing amazing things behind the scenes and we hope that changes can be enacted sooner rather than later. Thank you to EVERYONE who reached out on our behalf. Every voice makes a difference.
A heartfelt thank you to ALL OF YOU who have supported us over the last 11 years...whether it was sharing, commenting, donating, volunteering, transporting, airport pickups or fostering you truly have made a difference just believing in our mission. A sincere thank you to our adoption team who are all volunteers and dedicate so much time to our rescues regardless of the reason they are needing a new home. Last but not least the most profound gratitude to our executive director Michelle Smith who got very little sleep over the last month drowning in paperwork and a logistical nightmare to get all of our pups home in time. It truly takes a village and we have a pretty awesome one!!
With Gratitude,

Dear Puppy Rescue Mission Family,
As many of you have likely already seen, the CDC has just issued a ban for all dog imports from 113 countries across the world starting July 14th.
Many of these countries are where our US military members are deployed to and where we have been working for the last 11 years. We can assure you that we have followed 100% of CDC rules and regulations from day 1 and in nearly 4,000 animals rescued not one of our animals has ever had rabies. We are devastated by this ban and although we will still be able to assist in some countries and our soldiers’ cats in any country, this will affect our work tremendously. Having to turn soldiers away is so unfair. We as an organization believe in what we do and are going to do all we can to reach out to our politicians as this ban will affect so many animals and people across the world.
We are going to rally and get as many of our current rescues home before July 14th and we will continue to fight and rescue all those that we are legally able to after July 14th. We ask for your support during this difficult time, that we can survive the year and continue the amazing work of assisting our US military with rescuing their battle buddies. We have received countless thank you notes from family members with stories of how these battle buddies have saved their soldiers from suicide and helped them readjust to civilian life. These animals provide a small sense of normalcy in a land where life is less than ideal. We cannot stop now, the suicide rates among our US military is far too high and they deserve to be able to bring their battle buddies home.
We need you now more than ever…. we will continue to do what we do for as long as we can. Please reach out to your local politicians, we need to get this ban changed and punish those who are not following the rules, not the ones who have been since the start.
With a Heavy Heart,
Anna Cannan - President/Founder
Michelle Smith - Executive Director

Your voice can make a difference. Please help us to continue to serve our service members.
Since 2010, we have never turned a service member away. Now, nearly 4,000 battle buddies later, we are faced with the reality that we may have to.
Please contact your state's Senator and tell them why PRM should be able to continue to help service members.
Contact your local Representative and ask them to support PRM's ability to continue to help service members.
Whether you are a service member we have helped, an adopter, or someone who supports our efforts, your voice makes a difference!
Is your Senator or Representative dog friendly? If they are, they may certainly have a soft spot for our efforts. We've done some research to get you started.
